Discover a list of the biggest brands in the NFT market where a single token can be worth thousands of dollars or more.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have come a long way since the days of virtual kittens. Today, there is a wide range of different types of NFTs that collectors can purchase.

In this guide, you will discover five of the most popular brands in the non-fungible token market.

NBA Topshot

NBA Topshot allows you to own memorable moments from the NBA. Created by Dapper Labs, NBA Topshot has emerged as one of the most popular and mainstream crypto collectible games thanks to its partnership with the NBA and user-friendly gameplay.

The collectibles are called “moments,” which are short video clips of NBA highlights that have been stored on-chain.

Users can purchase moments in the Packs section, marketplace, or by completing challenges.

  • Packs are sold out continuously due to high demand, and they typically cost between $9 — $999, depending on the number and quality of moments in them.

  • The marketplace is more diverse. You can search for moments by players, teams, or sets. Moments here can be up to $500K.

  • Challenges give users the privilege of acquiring exclusive moments. To complete a challenge, you must have the required moments and hold them until the timer runs out.

NBA Topshot has witnessed a substantial increase in activity since its launch in 2020, recording a peak 77k daily transaction volume just four weeks ago.

Sorare

Sorare has created an incredible blend of NFTs and fantasy football. Using digital collectible cards of players, fantasy football fans get to build their team, buy and sell players and earn points based on real-world results and player performances.

The football collectibles are represented on the Ethereum blockchain as ERC-721 tokens and you can trade them in the transfer market or hold them as a collectible.

There are four types of Sorare collectible cards:

  • Common — free cards are given to you at the outset to build your team

  • Rare — 100 units per player

  • Super rare — 10 units per player

  • Unique — 1 piece

You can buy rare, super rare, and unique cards and compete in leagues to earn points based on your player’s performances. You can also sell these cards outside Sorare on platforms such as OpenSea, using the Trust wallet DApp Browser.

Considering the two worlds Sorare has brought together, it should come as no surprise that the three-year-old platform records up to $749K in daily transaction volume. They hold over 120 club licenses and sales have picked up steam. For example, the Cristiano Ronaldo Unique just sold last week for a whopping $102.5K.

Hashmasks

Hashmasks is an Ethereum-based virtual art gallery containing artworks from over 70 digital artists.

How it works is pretty impressive.

There are 16,384 hashmasks in total and they are sold at different price tiers. The current tier price is 1.7 ETH with only 612 artworks remaining.

Hashmask distribution follows a blind purchase pattern — you do not get to choose any collectibles. Instead, the smart contract randomly chooses for you.

One rousing feature is the option to deposit your NFT into a pool and convert it to ETH, stablecoins, or other tokens on SushiSwap. This increases liquidity and consequently minimizes risk.

To name your hashmask, you need the Haskmask-native utility token NCT. 2,300 NCT is given upon purchase, and 1,830 NCT is required to name your artwork. After the eventual sale of all hashmasks, NCT minting stops, and over time, NCT tokens get burned, making the name you gave your artwork permanent.

Hashmasks have gained profound momentum over the last two months, recording daily volumes of over $3M.

CryptoPunks

CryptoPunks are pixelated digital images created on the Ethereum network using the ERC-721 standard.

These 24 x 24 art images are only 10,000 in supply and have all been claimed. This means that you can only buy from other users in the marketplace.

Asking prices depend on the seller, and you can place bids. Punks with red backgrounds are on-sale, punks with purple backgrounds have bids on them, and those with blue backgrounds have been claimed.

The user-friendly website also allows you to read all relevant details on each punk, including the category, features, owner, and previous transaction history.

The three-year-old platform has grown substantially, recording up to $2.3M worth of daily transactions. Just recently, Punk 4,156 sold for 650 ETH. Punk 824, with an asking price of 149 ETH ($221,043), is the top-selling punk at the time of writing.

CryptoKitties

CryptoKitties is an Ethereum-powered crypto collectible game where users can buy, trade, and breed cats called Kitties.

Each kitten is an ERC-721 token and has distinct visual attributes (called cattributes) based on its coding sequence on the smart contract.

Users can buy these kitties, trade them, or breed them with other users’ kitties at a cost. Prices majorly depend on the generation of the kitty. There are countless cat generations, generation 0 being the earliest, rarest, and the most valuable.

CryptoKitties kickstarted the NFT movement in 2017, gaining rapid traction so much that the Ethereum network got clogged, and other transactions were visibly delayed.

Although their current trajectory isn’t anywhere near their boom days, Cryptokitties are still hanging in, recording a daily trading volume of up to $33K. Dragon — the most expensive kitty ever — sold for 600ETH ($170,000) in 2018.

Bottom line

NFTs are a relatively new but fast-growing market that is poised to tokenize more real-world assets while providing new forms of digital collectibles.

For collectors, NFTs provide a new way to turn collecting into a profitable venture thanks to increasing liquidity and market interest in this new digital asset class.
